Revive the child within

Image
Have you ever observed a child laughing at the little things which we think to be stupid now? Ever noticed him being carefree and enjoying the best in every moment? We were the same as kids – innocent, carefree, making the best of every moment. But, as we grew up, we just made our lives more complicated. For us, happiness has become reaching great heights, acquiring surplus amount of wealth and possessing branded materials. The change in the definition of “happiness” has been so drastic that laughing our hearts out has become a thing of the past. While climbing the ladder and stressing over our future, we have failed miserably to live in the moment. Growing up was supposed to be a good thing. It was supposed to make us aware, more knowledgeable, more intelligent and smarter. But, why does this smartness have to come at the cost of our happiness? We are in an illusion that stressing today will grant us a stress-free future. The bubble of this illusion needs to be broken, for

The Broken Wings

Few weeks ago, I had the privilege of coming across this guy whose story left me inspired and touched. He is pursuing his Masters besides giving tuitions. Following his passion with firm dedication, he plays cricket for India. You might be wondering, what's differently inspiring about this story? Well, the guy is differently abled and has difficulty in walking without support. And he plays as a cricketer in Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team.  His positivity, helpful nature and a zeal to pursue his passion of cricket is so motivating. What others see as a disability, he considers it to be a part of himself. The best part is that he is not ashamed of his condition. Instead of putting efforts into hiding his scars, he works on his passion whilst accepting them. All my wounds and scars seemed so small infront of the broken wings of this guy.  Very often we become so negative even at the slightest of our troubles. Instead of focussing on finding our ways through, we focus mo

The path of Self-Love

With the growth of social media, our desire to get approved by others has grown too. The platforms introduced as a medium for people to share their happiness with their loved ones, are now being used to seek validation. We post a picture and let the number of likes decide our worth. Being loved has become so important to us that even the slightest idea of someone not liking us affects us deeply. This virtual method of deciding our worth needs to end. It is important to understand that self-love and valuing oneself needs to be paid attention to. Just like happiness, love is also infectious. You can spread love only if you have it within you. A person filled with negative thoughts and hatred for himself will always try to demean others. He is like a snake who will always spread venom. God has created every person in a unique way. Each one of us has his/her own flaws. We need to accept our flaws and love ourselves just the way we are. The urge to be like someone else is toxic

Undying determination will help us achieve our goals in life

While sitting on the terrace one day, my eyes fell upon an ant carrying a grain on its back. To test the determination of the ant, I put my index finger on the ground, blocking its way. It turned towards the left to find a way to move forward. As soon as it found its way and began to move forward, I shifted my finger to the left blocking its way again. I repeated this process for about 10 minutes. Each time the ant would turn, find its way and move forward. Bowing down in front of its determination, I removed my finger and the ant hurried towards its home. The little creature taught a great lesson that “perseverance pays off”. The path you choose to traverse to achieve your goal may not always be easy. There will be hurdles, there will be obstacles. But to get to the place you have started your journey for, giving up is never an option. Our abilities and our strength are continuously put to test by God. Very often, we give up due to the fear of facing obstacles. But the one t

Let Bygones be Bygones !!

“If you want to fly on the sky, you need to leave the earth. If you want to move forward, you need to let go the past that drags you down.” – Amit Ray.  Very often, we get stuck in our past. The old memories, beautiful or sore, keep coming back to us, haunting like a ghost from the time that is gone. Happy or sad, refreshing or heart-breaking, memories always fill our eyes with tears - be it tears of sorrow or joy. While the past might seem to be holding us tight, it is best to let yourself loose from it. There is a reason why clock always moves in the clockwise direction, time always goes ahead and so should we. As you look back, there should be nothing more than lessons learnt and experiences gathered. Whatever happened, happened for a reason.  But, you alone are responsible for deciding whether or not to allow it cast a shadow on your present or your future. However great or bad your past might have been, you will always be known by what you are today and your visi
